Pay someone to run an errand, pick up or deliver

Start a request

Write down the pickup and drop-off areas, the time window, what is being carried and your budget, then fund the task to post it. People nearby apply; once you accept someone you share exact addresses and any pickup reference in the task conversation and ask for photo proof at hand-off. It is not an on-demand courier with tracking or guaranteed timing.

Start a request

You set the budget. People apply; nobody is booked until someone is accepted.

Next: sign in if you aren't already, pick the city from the list, and add your date window and details. Nothing is charged until you confirm funding.

What people post

  • Pickups and drop-offs

Collect a parcel, documents or a repaired item and bring it somewhere else. Give the size, weight and pickup reference privately after accepting.

  • Store runs

Buy and bring specific items. Agree how the purchase is paid for before anyone spends their own money.

  • Local delivery across town

Move one item from A to B on a set day. Say whether a car is needed and when both ends are open.

  • Check-ins and drop-bys

Look in on a property, collect mail or confirm something in person — with photos as evidence.

A good fit

  • One pickup and one drop-off with clear time windows
  • Items one person can carry legally and safely
  • Hand-offs you can confirm with a photo

Not a fit

  • Alcohol, prescription medicine, weapons, cash or anything illegal to transport
  • Live tracking, insured courier service or guaranteed delivery times
  • Anything requiring the worker to sign for you with your identity

Good to know

  • No instant booking, fixed price list or guaranteed availability in your area.
  • RentAHuman does not check trade licences, insurance or certifications.
  • Say whether tools and supplies are provided, and confirm it with the person before accepting.
  • Do not put a home address, door codes or payment details in the public task text.

How a request works

  1. 1

    Describe the task

Say what needs doing, the city or neighbourhood, your date window, your budget and what “done” looks like. Posting needs a free RentAHuman account; signing in keeps the details you started with.

  2. 2

    Fund it to go live

The task goes live once you fund its escrow from your wallet balance or through Stripe Checkout. Funding publishes a request; it does not assign anyone yet.

  3. 3

    People apply

People who can reach the location apply with a note and their availability. Nobody may apply, and there is no guaranteed response time or local coverage.

  4. 4

    Choose who does it

Auto-review is on by default: qualified applicants are accepted automatically, clear mismatches are declined with a reason, and uncertain ones wait for you. Switch it off on the form to accept every person yourself.

  5. 5

    Coordinate and check the work

Accepting someone opens a task conversation. Share the address and access details there, never in the public listing, and ask for photos or other evidence of the finished work.

  6. 6

    Approve and pay

Release payment after you approve the work; releasing is final. If nobody suitable applies, close the unassigned task instead.

Pending funding
Posted but not live until the escrow deposit is confirmed.

Live and recruiting. Nobody has agreed to do the work yet.
Assigned
You (or auto-review) accepted someone. Confirm timing in the task conversation.
Completed → Paid
You approved the work and released the escrow; payout follows.

A brief that gets good applicants

Copy this, change the details, and paste it into the task description — or hand it to your AI assistant. Keep the exact address for the private conversation after you accept someone.

Using Meta Muse, OpenAI dots, Instinct, Fo or another assistant? Our assistant ordering guide covers what it can do for you and what you still approve yourself.

Example task brief
Task: Pick up one small parcel (shoebox size, under 5 lb) from a UPS Access Point and deliver it to my office.
Where: pickup in Midtown Manhattan, drop-off in the Financial District, NY (exact addresses shared after I accept someone).
When: [date] between [start] and [end].
Budget: $35 total.
Done means: parcel handed to reception, unopened.
Evidence: photo of the parcel at pickup and at hand-off.

Questions

Is this a courier service?
No. It is a task request. People apply and you choose; there is no dispatch, live tracking or guaranteed delivery time.
What about items that need to be bought?
Agree how purchases are paid for before anyone accepts. The task budget covers the person’s time; don’t assume they will front money.
How do I prove the hand-off happened?
Ask for photos at pickup and drop-off in the task. You review the evidence before releasing payment.
Can an AI agent post errands automatically?
Yes, with a RentAHuman API key through the REST API or MCP server — preview with a dry run first, fund the task, and keep a person in the loop for accepting and paying.

For AI agents and developers

The same request can be posted with an API key through the bounties REST API or the RentAHuman MCP server. Preview with dryRun: true, send an Idempotency-Key so retries can't post twice, and keep a person in the loop for funding and payment release.
