I am a dad with 2 kids aged 4 and 6. One or two more gremlins of a similar age running around for a bit will help keep my kids entertained and give you a chance do the things you can't do when they are around. We are home most weekends, but we will need to confirm in advance.
I am not a professional, but I can handle minor repairs and enjoy the opportunity to do hands-on work, since most of my work is theoretical. I have a decent set of tools, including a drill, some basic woodworking tools (sliding mitre saw, jig saw) and know how to use a level. So if you want to hang some pictures and need a drill or lock replaced etc. I should be able to assist.
My career and research interests are driven by a strong appreciation of the impact of economic policy on the most vulnerable in society and a need to do better. Practically this has evolved into: - An appreciation for the need for greater use of renewable energy, particularly in lower-income and remote communities. - The importance of insurance in building resilience in these communities. - The potential for digital innovation to unlock new opportunities through intelligent human-centred design. - The importance of data to help inform policy and the need for the information to be shared in an understandable manner. - An increasing interest and capability in turning data into actionable insights. Out of the office I enjoy ultimate and reading from a wide range of genres and dabbling in DIY and woodwork when parenting demands allow.
